Hey, so here’s the deal. I’m sitting here with my coffee, minding my own business, and then I remember the PlayStation Store’s July sale — you know, that one with all those sweet deals? Yeah, halfway through now, and the discounts, let me tell you, are pretty tempting. Especially if you’ve got your eye on snagging some top-tier games for your PS5 or PS4. I mean, there’s this one PS5 exclusive that’s getting all the buzz. Let’s jump in… or wait, have I already rambled too much? Whatever, let’s go!
Anyway, about this wild deal on Returnal… a whopping 58% off, guys!
So, Housemarque — who are these folks again? Doesn’t matter really — anyway, they’ve got this game, Returnal, on sale for 58% off at the PlayStation Store. Doing the math ’cause why not, that drops it down to just $29.39 instead of the usual $69.99. If you’re into roguelike third-person shooters, this might be calling your name. But here’s the catch: you gotta hurry. This deal? Poof, gone by July 17 at 2:59 a.m. ET. Why such a weird time, I have no clue.
And what is Returnal even about? Picture this: you crash-land on some crazy, shape-shifting alien planet (just a regular Tuesday, right?) and you’re this character, Selene, trying not to die. Over and over again. Every time you kick the bucket, bam, you start all over. Apparently, both the planet and your gear are like, constantly changing. Keeps you on your toes, right? Change your strategy, or just wing it.
When this bad boy launched in 2021 — wait, was it really that long ago? — critics were into it. Metacritic, that score-keeper of the gaming world, slapped an 86 on it based on 115 reviews. Yeah, folks dug it, and it got a bunch of award nominations. It even snagged Best Action Game at The Game Awards 2021 and also nailed it with Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design at the D.I.C.E. Awards of the same year. Fancy, huh?
And hey, in our go at it, we were pretty generous. Returnal got a full-on 10 out of 10 from us. Bold move, some might say! We went all in: “Returnal is must-play material on the PS5, both now and looking ahead to when we’re all gray and the console’s ancient history.” Did Housemarque just nail it with style? Yep. They took the whole rogue-like concept, added some bullet-hell drama, and out came something both fresh and somehow comfortably old school. It’s pretty much a thrill ride from start to finish — just when you think you’re safe, bam, you’re surprised yet again.
And I guess that’s all the chaos my brain can manage for now. Go check it out or don’t, I’m diving back into my coffee.
