Hey, so, um, there’s this new game — oh right, Directive 8020 — that’s about to drop on PlayStation 5. October 2, mark your calendars or, whatever. Not really my type of vibe, but hey, if you’re into sci-fi horror, check it out.
I mean, the folks who made it also did UNTIL DAWN and THE QUARRY, which I kind of remember, maybe? Anyway, apparently, Earth’s kinda toast and everyone’s looking to Tau Ceti f (weird name, right?) for salvation. But surprise, surprise, the colony ship Cassiopeia doesn’t get the warmest welcome. Crash landings aren’t exactly a five-star space hotel experience, you know?
Picture it: Alien planet, no one around, oh wait, something is very much alive and kicking — or slithering? These alien critters aren’t just loitering. They mimic you, which sounds… super creepy on a bad hair day. The crew’s on edge, trying to not die, learning the big life lesson that sometimes to save your own skin, you might have to toss everyone else overboard. Real uplifting stuff.
Oh, and Lashana Lynch is in this. She was in The Woman King, which I actually did catch. She plays ‘Young’ (what a name) — a groundbreaking astronaut. Whatever that means.
You’ll be sneaking around the ship’s dark hallways, dodging whatever alien nasties are about — feels like a sci-fi version of hide and seek, but the stakes are life or, uh, death. You’re improvising weapons, kinda like turning your pen into a lightsaber, but way less cool, more scrappy.
People around you might not be who you think they are. Trust is basically non-existent. So, if paranoia’s your thing, here’s your ticket. Death’s different up there — flashy, unpredictable maybe.
Anyway. Weirdly fascinated by how messy things can get up in space. Why did I start talking about this again? Oh, right, October 2, remember?
