Sure thing. Here goes:
—
So, Capcom dropped some numbers on us, and honestly, it’s kind of wild. They pulled in something like ¥45.5 billion — that’s about $302.2 million bucks — between April and June. Pretty sure they’ve got some folks grinning over there.
Their Digital Contents—or just, like, games, you know?—really drove this. Devil May Cry 5 was a big hit, partly due to this Netflix anime they did. I watched it and got lost halfway, but hey, it worked for them.
We’re talking Devil May Cry 5 moving 10.5 million copies total. Just this quarter, they knocked out 1.7 million of those. Then you have Resident Evil Village at 12.2 million—and don’t even get me started on Resident Evil 4 and its 10.6 million. Played it last week. Those zombie things still freak me out. Oh, and Street Fighter 6 hit five million copies! I guess launching on Nintendo Switch 2 didn’t hurt. Was supposed to try it but… totally forgot.
Anyway, they pushed out 14.16 million units in the quarter. Just for a bit of perspective (or not, since I’m a bit lost myself)—that’s up from last year’s 9.53 million. Pounds of games, folks.
Operating profit also rocketed by 90.8 percent to this mind-boggling ¥24.6 billion, which apparently is $163.4 million. Don’t even ask me how math works at this point. I had to triple check because the numbers were giving me a headache.
And there you have it. Capcom’s on a roll, and who knows what’s next? I’m just hoping for more zombie survival horror. Or maybe not? Depends on how brave I’m feeling, I guess.
