V Rising Hints at Major Update Featuring New Weapons and Combat Mechanic

Last year marked a crucial milestone for V Rising, the vampire-themed survival game, as it reached its full release, version 1.0. Since then, it’s become a cornerstone in the genre, blending the familiar mechanics of popular titles like Valheim, Palworld, and Don’t Starve, with a unique vampiric twist. However, Stunlock Studios, the game’s developer, hasn’t kicked back to rest. They’ve been diligently working on version 1.1 of V Rising, with plans to introduce exciting new features throughout 2025. Thanks to a recent development update on Steam, we now have a peek into what’s coming next.

V Rising already offers an abundance of content for players to dive into, but future expansions are set to deepen the experience even more. The latest blog post on Steam, intriguingly titled ‘Weapons of the Night,’ outlines one of the major updates Stunlock is cooking up: enhancements to the combat system.

The post offers an in-depth look at new weapons to be introduced in version 1.1. First up are the Claws, which inflict a stacking ‘puncture’ effect that deals significant damage to enemies. Then there’s the Twinblade, a staff with a knife at each end that can be thrown to launch foes into the air, only for them to plummet down exactly where you decide. Lastly, the Throwing Daggers serve as a ranged option, hurled at adversaries only to be magically recalled, cutting through anything in their flight path.

Each weapon also features its own special artifact counterpart. For the Claws, you have the Talons of the Lich Beast, which summon skeletons and provide healing. The Twinblade is matched with the Fate Dancers, which can chill enemies, while the Throwing Daggers are complemented by the Wraithblades, focusing on Phantasm.

In addition to these arsenals, a new combat feature called Weapon Coating is being introduced. This allows players to enhance their attacks by applying different coatings that correspond to various magic types. As described in the Steam blog, this change offers “one more method you can use to specialize your play style…” making for a more personalized gameplay experience.
