Alright, so here’s the thing — after what felt like forever (seriously, fans wouldn’t stop asking), Gearbox Software finally spilled the beans about something lots of folks have been hoping for in Borderlands 4. But, plot twist — it’s not gonna be there when the game first drops on September 12. So, yeah, a little patience required.
The big reveal? Photo Mode. Yup, the nifty feature where you can snap cinematic screenshots of your gameplay. Think color grading, depth adjustments, all that jazz. Games are looking pretty darn amazing these days, so it’s kinda sad it won’t be there from the get-go. Felt like it was almost a given, but nope.
Graeme Timmins, the creative brain behind Borderlands 4, let the cat out of the bag on a random Tuesday morning. But here’s the kicker — they gotta delay it until after launch. He casually mentioned it on social media, like it was no big deal. “Hey guys, wanted to confirm that Photo Mode will be coming to Borderlands 4! It’ll be a feature that we add in an update after the game launches.” Okay, cool story, bro.
Here’s why though — Gearbox was busy polishing up other parts of the game. Stuff that actually matters when you’re in the heat of battle. Timmins was like, “I had us prioritize polishing some other elements, more core to the moment-to-moment experience.” Makes sense… sort of. Priorities, right?
For a bit of context, Borderlands 3 had Photo Mode on PC right away. Consoles had to wait a bit. And then there was this other game, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands — they had it on all platforms ASAP. I was really hoping we’d get it pronto this time around since Borderlands 4 runs on Unreal Engine 5 and looks wicked good. Like, jaw-droppingly good.
But, I guess they’ve got a point. Gameplay comes first. As awesome as it would be to snap fancy pics right away, it probably makes more sense to make sure the game is polished where it counts first. Fingers crossed it shows up sooner rather than later.
This whole Borderlands 4 thing is shaping up to be a major 2025 hit for Xbox and PC. Could end up being one of the top games, with four new Vault Hunters and a storyline picking up where Borderlands 3 left off. Adventure awaits on some war-torn planet with a dictator named The Timekeeper. Sounds intense, right?
Mark your calendars for September 12, 2025. That’s when Borderlands 4 hits Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5, and even the new Nintendo Switch 2. Standard version costs $69.99, Deluxe at $99.99, and the Super Deluxe Edition (because why stop at Deluxe, right?) is $129.99. Grab your controllers, it’s gonna be a wild ride!
