Sure thing. Here it goes:
So, guess what? Limited Run Games just spilled the beans on when Gex Trilogy is hitting the shelves, digitally at least. And, oh boy, brace yourself for this – not one, not two, but three physical editions for the Nintendo Switch. Crazy, right?
Now, if you’re like me and remember Gex – the slick little gecko – let me take you down memory lane. This bundle packs the original 2D Gex along with its wild 3D cousins, Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. They’ve jazzed them up with some nifty features like “Rewind” and “Save Anywhere” – lifesavers for someone like me who can’t quite nail those jumps on the first try.
And let me just say, Enter the Gecko and Deep Cover Gecko now boast this swanky 16:9 widescreen look and full-on 360-degree control. It’s like the gecko underwent a modern makeover. Will it win him an award? Who knows. But it’s neat!
Right, the physical editions. This is where it gets snazzy:
– Standard Edition: $39.99. You get the game, obviously, a case, some cover art, and a booklet. Basic stuff but essential.
– Classic Edition: $74.99. All that standard jazz plus a steelbook, a big ol’ double-sided poster (12”x16”, to be exact), a CD with some tunes, and a retro-style box. Imagine unwrapping that!
– Tail Time Edition: $199.99. Soundtrack? Check. Alongside a giant inflatable Gex (36 inches – not even joking), a 7” statue, trading cards, a snazzy remote pin, and a collector’s box with art by Yoshitaka Amano, who I guess is a big deal?
For those who can’t wait – digital release is on June 16, 2025, worldwide on the Nintendo eShop. I mean, I marked my calendar, didn’t you? And just FYI, pre-orders are up on the Limited Run Games site till July 6, 2025. Just in case you want to snag one.
So there it is. Gex is back. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or you’re just hearing about this green fellow, there’s a little something for everyone. Now, what was I saying? Oh yeah, hit play on that Gex trailer and maybe, just maybe, relive a piece of the ’90s. Or don’t. Your call, really.
