Okay, so here’s the deal. I never played Bravely Default on the 3DS. I know, shocking, right? Everyone was raving about it, saying it was the next best thing to Final Fantasy. Yet there I was, oblivious. Fast forward to PAX East 2025, and bam—Square Enix drops a demo for Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster. Talk about timing, huh? Maybe it’s my ignorance that’ll give this an unusual twist.
So, picture this—no dual screens anymore. Say what? Yeah, they ditched that but cranked up the graphics. Everyone’s talking high-def these days. I started chatting with some Square Enix rep—random thought, why do they always look so poised?—and threw out the idea of remaking the second game. She gave me a nod but stayed poker-faced. Maybe I started something. Or not. Who knows?
Oh, and the combat system! Man, it’s wild. Okay, picture this: there’s Brave and Default. Brave lets you go all-out offensive, but then you’re a sitting duck—totally defenseless. Default is like a turtle, you save your turns to strike later. Makes sense? Anyway, I went full-crazy Brave mode, no idea how I survived. Maybe the demo took it easy on me. The real game will definitely need some brainpower, flipping between Brave and Default like a pro.
The job system? Didn’t get to touch it. But wow, this game… super intriguing. Can’t believe I missed out on its original run, but hey—this version is the perfect catch-up. Circle June 5 on your calendars for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. Same day, game and console. Isn’t that neat?
