Zenless Zone Zero Marks Its First Anniversary Once More with a New Story Chapter

The past month has been kinda wild for Zenless Zone Zero. So, like, they kicked off their first anniversary, although it was sorta early—I mean, it officially came out on Xbox and got that massive 2.0 update. And yeah, everyone into this sci-fi RPG totally knows the real anniversary lands in July. No one’s really gonna grumble about a juicy new patch, right? Plus, there’s a whole new arc in the story now.

Time just zooms by—or maybe it’s just me—but here we are, July 4, and Zenless Zone Zero’s officially turning one. HoYoverse isn’t holding back, either. They’re teasing another hefty patch. Oh, but wait, it’s just the reveal for now. Update 2.1, called The Impending Crash of Waves, won’t actually drop until July 16. I know, bummer.

The update? It’s got this new faction called Spook Shack—fits right into the water-themed vibe they’re rolling out. And there are two new areas: Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort. It’s like they’re just doubling down on this summer theme, you know? Sailume Bay’s where all the Season 2 Chapter 2 action happens, and Fantasy Resort? That’s where they’re diving into the summer story and event.

And yeah, new Agents are coming too. Ukinami Yuzuha is an S-Rank Physical Support Agent—working with a tanuki buddy named Kama who kinda hilariously chucks candy bombs at foes. Then Alice Thymefield joins in; she’s another S-Rank but does the whole Physical Anomaly thing. Think zooming around and charging her Blade Etiquette for some serious slice and dice.

When update 2.1 finally shows up, it’ll bring along Miss Esme, this new S-Rank Bangboo. Oh, and if you’re a fan, get ready for the comeback of Void Hunter Miyabi (S-Rank Frost Anomaly) and Yanagi (S-Rank Electric Anomaly). Basically, it’s a lot.
