At the recent "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum lifted the curtain on a lineup of its future AMD Ryzen-powered innovations. Among the exciting reveals were the new MoTD and Mini PC models featuring the latest Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU.
Fresh Faces: Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" in Action
Minisforum is upping the ante with two new entries powered by AMD’s state-of-the-art Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU. Their MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) series and Mini PCs took center stage at the event, each showcasing how these CPUs enhance their capabilities across various platforms.
Minisforum’s F1FGM MoTD Motherboard: A Builder’s Dream
First on the list is the F1FGM, an extension of the MoTD lineup featuring the latest CPU. With an mATX form and robust heatsinks across critical areas, this motherboard is built for high performance. It’s the follow-up to the BD770i and BD790i models that carried the Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" CPUs. But now, we have the latest Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" series taking the spotlight.
This new MoTD can be supercharged with the Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, which brings 16 cores and 32 threads powered by the Zen 5 architecture. It boasts a turbo clock speed of up to 5.4 GHz and a whopping 64 MB of L3 cache. Although it’s rated at 55W by default, this desktop-ready mobile chip can be cranked up to a powerful 160W on this board, offering users an elite experience.
The motherboard can also accommodate an "X3D" variant, with cooling managed by a vapor chamber baseplate since these mobile CPUs lack an Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS). The VRM setup features a 13-Phase Duet rail design with robust 60A SPS power stages.
In terms of memory support, you get four DDR5 DIMM slots, providing a potential 256 GB of memory with speeds soaring up to 8000 MT/s. The board is topped off with an X870M chipset, essentially a mobile-grade alternative aligning closely with the B850 series, and includes two PCIe slots and extra M.2 slots offering Gen5x4 speeds. Additional perks are the USB4, 5GbE LAN, WIFI7, and BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Yet Mighty
The MS-A2 Mini PC is another highlight, carrying forward the MS-A1 legacy by integrating the advanced Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs. These systems boast cutting-edge IO options like multiple M.2 slots, 10 GbE LAN through SFP+ ports, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot fit for low-profile cards.
This Mini PC features a distinct motherboard layout with two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB of memory at 5200 MT/s. The IO suite includes multiple USB ports, dual 10 GbE LAN options, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, along with DP and HDMI outputs.
N5 PRO NAS: Harnessing Strix Power
Lastly, Minisforum introduced the Strix-powered N5 PRO NAS, capable of supporting an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU with its 12-core, 24-thread configuration and a Radeon 890M iGPU. The NAS sports five 3.5-inch bays, equipped with a toolless design for easy drive management. It can handle up to 48 GB of DDR5 memory and includes a single PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for additional video interfaces.
Each bay in the NAS has a capacity for up to 22 TB HDDs, complemented by three additional PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. For connectivity, there’s a mix of one 10 GbE and one 5 GbE Ethernet port, rounded off with several USB 3.2 Gen1 interfaces.
Minisforum plans to release these high-powered solutions soon. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
