Eight years, can you believe it? Star Wars Battlefront 2—a game that’s, well, almost a decade old—has barged its way back into our radars. Star Wars fans—grabbing their blasters and lightsabers—seem to have rekindled their love affair with this game. Why? Honestly, I’m not sure. Maybe nostalgia. Maybe something else entirely.
Aside from Battlefront 2 making waves, the Star Wars galaxy, as usual, doesn’t sleep. Late April, right? This year’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan caught everyone off guard with quite a few eyebrow-raisers, as if the universe decided we needed more surprises. And then there’s Battlefront 2’s sudden glow-up. Does it make sense? Kinda. If you squint your eyes, maybe.
Andor—this pinnacle of Disney’s spinning Star Wars tales—wrapped its second season on May 13. A couple of weeks later, Battlefront 2 started buzzing. Yup, Muhannad Ben Amor (Wilmon Paak on Andor) even chimed in wanting a Battlefront 3. Maybe it’s the Andor finale. Maybe it’s something else sparking interest in Battlefront 2. I mean, at this point, who can tell?
Oh, and there’s no season three for Andor. Can you imagine the chaos in the fanbase? They’ll have to make do.
Switching gears—Fortnite. Yep, you heard me. They’ve got this Galactic Battle event running until June 7. Every year it’s kinda the same, right? Star Wars and Fortnite shaking hands for Star Wars Day. But this time? Went further. Mandalorian, Darth Jar Jar (couldn’t make this up if I tried), you name it. Fortnite is pulling no punches.
Revenge of the Sith turned twenty. Wait, has it really been that long since 2005? They put it up for limited screenings this April. Feeling old yet? Andor’s probably driving the Battlefront 2 love train, but hey, the throwback to Sith and the ‘Fortnite effect’ join forces too. Nostalgia—a dish best served with laser swords, I guess.
So is Battlefront 3 a done deal? Not even close. There’s a petition. Gathering speed, but does that actually mean anything? Maybe. Maybe not. Fans are definitely clamoring for more. Battlefront 2 started off rocky, but look at it now. You never know what the Force holds.
Honestly, all of this? Just feels like a whirlwind of Star Wars delight, chaos, and a couple of blaster bolts for good measure.
