EA is Finally Shutting Down Anthem

Okay, so here’s the thing. Electronic Arts, you know the big US publisher? Yeah, they’re finally pulling the plug on Anthem. I swear it’s happening next year or something. January 12th, 2026. I checked the calendar twice like it’d make a difference. shrugs

Their blog was like, “Hey everyone, you can’t buy any more of our shiny game coins, but go ahead and spend what you’ve got left.” Kind of feels like the end of summer camp where you gotta use up all your canteen cash on candy bars you don’t even like. Random, right? But that’s life. Or is it?

Meanwhile, they’re all, “Thank you, oh loyal gamers, we love your passion and keep being awesome!” Classic farewell vibes, I guess? Though, there’s this bit where they said no one’s losing their job. Yet. Which, let’s be real, leaves a lot unsaid. Could be fine. Could be a turbulent rollercoaster. It’s that twitchy "yet" that gets me.

Oh, and remember Anthem’s launch back in the mysterious mists of 2019? BioWare had such big dreams, but unfortunately, it kinda flopped like a pancake that didn’t get enough flips. Just never caught on. Behind-the-scenes drama emerged afterward and oof! The tea was hot. Real hot.
