Janos Flösser, previously the managing director at IO Interactive, the creators of the hit series Hitman, has announced the launch of his latest venture, Wombo Games.
The studio is currently developing an intriguing strategy roguelike game named Raiders of Blackveil, which is scheduled to enter Early Access this summer.
Wombo Games was established in 2023. Flösser has had an impressive career, having spent nearly a decade with IO Interactive from 1998 to 2008. He then transitioned to Square Enix as the chief creative officer, remaining there until 2016, before moving on to become the CEO of Crey Games.
Beyond his roles in game development, Flösser has served as both a partner and a senior partner at Promentum Capital.
In a conversation with GamesBeat, Flösser shared, “We wanted to keep [the studio] small and nimble and see how far we could push it.”
He added, “We secured funding and kicked things off in July 2023, so we’re nearing the two-year mark. Remarkably, we had a playable version almost by the end of the first month-and-a-half. Our investors became enamored with the concept from the start and have been enthusiastic ever since. It’s the first time I’ve seen investors so engaged and excited about both the team and the game concept. Consequently, we’ve successfully raised funds three times over the last two years. Our current focus is on crafting the perfect game for its intended audience.”
