K-Pop Demon Hunters and Star Wars Jedi Make an Unexpectedly Great Combination

Okay, so, let’s get into this. Somehow—don’t ask me how—my latest obsession, this quirky Netflix thing called KPop Demon Hunters, collided with my old-school fave, Star Wars. Seriously, I couldn’t make this up if I tried. I mean, what would the likes of Cal Kestis and Merrin from the Jedi games possibly have to do with Rumi or Zoey from HUNTR/X? It’s weird, right? But also kinda intriguing.

Anyway, turns out, both groups have this knack for taking down bad guys while looking ridiculously cool. Yeah, makes sense when you think about it. So, there’s this clip, you’ve got to check it out, by AnimatedJen—I swear it’s the sort of thing that could kickstart your morning like a cup of strong coffee.

Picture this: Cal and the crew—Bode Akuna and Merrin—on this mission, with “How It’s Done” playing in the back. They’re not exactly parachuting from a plane or anything, but the action sequences are mind-blowing. I mean, the way Cal just goes for it, you can almost feel the adrenaline.

At one point, Bode’s like, “You want some more?” And bam! Cal’s kicking a shoretrooper, and Bode’s all in with his jetpack, just landing punches like nobody’s business. Oh, and Merrin’s doing her thing, spinning her staff like some kind of mystical ballerina. It’s just… wow. I’m all hyped, and there’s more to come, which is awesome.

Gotta say, I’ve been a fan of AnimatedJen for a while now. They’ve got this whole alternate universe where Cal’s an Inquisitor, and I’m like, yeah, count me in! The Jedi games are legendary, and people, including me, totally want to see these characters in live-action.

Now, here’s a side thought—true Star Wars magic happens when fans throw their own twist into the mix. So what if it’s unlikely that canon-Cal—whatever that means—would team up with Bode and Merrin using K-Pop powers to obliterate troopers? Does it really matter? Nope! I’m dubbing them MANT/S now. Maybe Cere Junda could be their manager? Anyone up for writing this for AO3? Also, modders, those outfits need to become a thing. Yesterday, preferably.

So yeah, if you’re looking for me, I’ll be diving back into Jedi: Fallen Order, blasting “Takedown” while I take out some Imperial baddies. Fun times.
