Funcom has announced a slight change in plans for the release of Dune: Awakening, pushing the launch back by a month thanks to insights gained from its recent beta testing phase.
In an update shared on their website, the development team has decided to shift the release date from May 15th to June 10th. This decision came in response to valuable input received from participants in the ongoing closed beta.
The game places players in the struggle for control over the desert world of Arrakis, set in an alternate timeline where the series’ well-known hero, Paul Atreides, never comes into the picture, meaning he also doesn’t cause any major upheavals to the empire.
According to Funcom’s statement, feedback from the beta has been crucial in refining the game. They’ve set up an active Discord server where beta testers can engage directly with the developers, fostering a dynamic dialogue aimed at enhancing Dune: Awakening.
“We’ve realized that, with just a bit more time, we can implement more of the important suggestions from our testers,” Funcom shared. It’s a careful decision, made with the understanding of fans’ eagerness, but the team believes these additional weeks will polish the game for a better launch experience.
Moreover, this delay opens up an exciting opportunity—an expansive beta weekend slated for next month. It’s a chance for even more players to dive into the game and provide their feedback. Funcom promises further details on this event soon, keeping the community engaged and informed.
