Yui’s eagerly awaited mod for Dark Souls Remastered has finally dropped, and the community is buzzing with excitement. Within just three days, over 10,000 fans eagerly downloaded this add-on.
Now, Dark Souls Remastered offers seamless co-op play thanks to this innovative mod, and it’s clear that players are flocking back to the game to experience it. The mastermind behind this addition is Yui, a well-known modder with numerous successful projects under their belt. Earlier in February 2025, Yui introduced seamless co-op to Dark Souls 3, and soon after, they poured their efforts into crafting a similar experience for Dark Souls Remastered.
The much-anticipated release of Yui’s mod hit Nexus Mods on April 10, quickly racking up 12,150 downloads in just 72 hours. This suggests a strong resurgence of interest among FromSoftware fans, eager to dive back into the enhanced multiplayer experience of the game with co-op capabilities now fully integrated.
Previously, players could call upon others for assistance with bosses in Dark Souls Remastered, but the ability to maintain multiplayer sessions despite player deaths now greatly simplifies facing the game’s toughest challenges. It also opens up new ways to explore, as parties can now continue without disbanding after defeating a boss. Essentially, Yui’s mod allows a group of friends to journey through the entirety of Dark Souls Remastered in a single multiplayer session.
To adapt to the new co-op capabilities, the mod adjusts the multiplayer scaling across all enemies, not just bosses. This ensures balance, as navigating the game alongside allies can make exploration much easier given that many non-boss areas weren’t originally designed for cooperative play. However, gamers who prefer a more relaxed experience can choose to disable this feature in the mod’s settings. Additionally, the mod provides an option to turn off invasions, transforming Dark Souls Remastered into a purely PvE affair.
It’s worth noting that this add-on uses different save files compared to the base game, meaning co-op progress cannot be transferred to the standard version. It bypasses FromSoftware’s servers in favor of peer-to-peer connections, ensuring a smooth multiplayer experience without the risk of bans. As for Yui’s future plans, they have yet to disclose what they’ll tackle next, now that this ambitious project is complete.
