Review of “Blades of Fire” on PlayStation 5

Hey, so, let’s talk about this new game, “Blades of Fire.” It’s by 505 Games and MercurySteam. We’re diving into some mythical lands here. Can I just say, these game intros always have this epic vibe? Like I’m supposed to be moved to tears or something. Reminds me of that time I played “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2” on my old PS3. Seriously, that game was a ride. Anyway, this new one’s got giants, The Forgers, who made humans because, you know, why not?

You play as Aran de Lira. And guess what? Queen Nerea decides to go full villain and turns all the steel into stone. Classic, right? So, instead of button-mashing your way through, you gotta strategize. Enter Adso de Zelk – your sidekick who’s some whiz kid from the Abbey of Egion. He tells you how to fight and deciphers stuff, which is handy because ancient texts? Not my thing.

And crafting? Yeah, you get to make weapons. I’m talking the real deal: weight, length, durability—you name it. There’re seven types of weapons and a bunch of Forge Scrolls. It’s like being in a candy store but for weapons.

Difficulty settings are pretty cool too: Bronze, Iron, and Steel. Or as I like to call them: easy, kinda tough, and “Who hurt you, developer?” You can swap between them anytime, so no shame if you need a break. Combat’s mapped to all the usual buttons. It’s become like muscle memory by now, right?

Oh, and don’t let your guard down because every hit drains your weapon’s endurance. You gotta be smart about using strong weapons—save those for the big bad guys.

Enemies? Over 50. They’ve got different moves, and you’ve gotta figure out the best way to take them down. Think of it like a twisted dance, with skeletons and trolls… you know how it goes.

And trophies! I mean, if you’re into that sort of thing, there’s a bunch to collect. Forge weapons, beat enemies, do all the stuff you’d expect for that Platinum trophy.

Release date’s May 22 for the PS5, and it’s not cheap at $59.99. But if you’re quick, catch a pre-order discount. Anyway, seems like one of those games you get lost in, crafting and battling away into the night.
