NVIDIA and AMD are reportedly gearing up to introduce some wallet-friendly GPUs in May, vying for top spot in the mainstream graphics card market.
### NVIDIA & AMD Gear Up to Capture the Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
Right now, if you’re in the market for a mid-range GPU, your options are pretty limited. Many of the latest models, especially from NVIDIA, have been scarce, pushing prices well above their suggested retail prices. AMD’s RX 9070 series is in high demand, which makes finding one at the regular price quite a challenge. But things are looking up; a new report from Benchlife suggests that both NVIDIA and AMD are rolling out fresh options for mainstream consumers, with launches expected as early as next month.
Starting with NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 5060 is rumored to be hitting shelves by May 19. This card is packed with an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM setup, clocking speeds of 28 Gbps through a 128-bit memory bus. Interestingly, power consumption sees a notable bump, with a 35W TDP increase over the RTX 4060. Here’s how the RTX 5060 stacks up compared to its predecessor:
– 25% More CUDA Cores
– Same Memory Capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory (28 Gbps?)
– Increased Bandwidth (+64%)
– 30% Higher Power Rating
On the AMD side, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is set to make its debut at Computex on May 21, although it might not hit stores until June. Sporting the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus, it’ll offer both 8GB and 16GB configurations, somewhat echoing NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. The GPU is expected to feature 2,048 SPs, which is half of what the RX 9070 XT offers. With game clocks at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz, it’s poised to deliver impressive performance for 1080p and 2K gaming.
We’ll be covering these exciting new releases from NVIDIA and AMD live at Computex 2025, and if luck is on our side, we might even provide some early previews. The mid-range GPU market is heating up, and May could turn out to be a pivotal month for gamers everywhere.
